Khan keen to kick on after netting brace

14 December 2021

Walsall midfielder Otis Khan hopes the Saddlers can continue pushing up the table after what he described as ‘the perfect day’ at the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday.

The 26-year-old opened his account for the Saddlers with a brace in the 3-0 victory over Colchester United at the weekend.

He also had a hand in the third goal as he guided the ball across to Jack Earing who then applied the finish.

Khan is keen to kick on from his display on Saturday and was delighted with how the game panned out.

“Two goals early in the first half, I thought I was going to get the third but I set Jez (Jack Earing) up," he said.

"It’s always nice to get an assist as well so it was the perfect day rounded off with three points.

“I don’t think it could have gone much better the way we played, the way we pressed, the way we moved the ball - I think everything came together.

“I think it’s a number of benefits for the team, for myself, for the gaffer – giving him a headache and something to think about but I think the main thing is getting three points, especially at this club.

“We want to keep going up the table. You’ve got to play consistently at this club if you want to get higher. I knew I had to be patient and I knew my chance was coming and when it did, I think I took it.

“I think it’s been coming; we’ve been getting chances in different games and the difference was finishing our chances off, being ruthless in front of goal.

“We know we’re always going to get the chances with the players we’ve got in the team. It’s just about finishing them; I think we did that. It’s a clean sheet for the defenders, they were great so it was just a great team performance all round.”
