The Saddlers are ready, insists Phillips

4 August 2021

Walsall striker Kieran Phillips insists the Saddlers are ready to kickstart the new campaign but is still feels the team will continue to improve.

The Saddlers travel to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday as the Sky Bet League Two season gets underway.

The 21-year-old has been pleased with the minutes he got during pre-season and feels the team are on the right track ahead of the big kick-off.

“We’re definitely on our way,” said Phillips.

“It’s not going to be an overnight thing. Every game we’ll get better and in training we’ll get better. Hopefully sooner rather than later it will all come together nicely.

“The main thing is the minutes in pre-season, just to get in your legs and get yourself conditioned. It was nice to get a goal last week, I probably should have had another (at Cheltenham), but I’ll save them for the season.

“We’re definitely ready. Everything is looking forward to Tranmere on Saturday so we’re ready to go.”

The Saddlers will be backed by a large travelling contingent at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Phillips has enjoyed playing in front of supporters during pre-season and has been delighted with the support the team has received so far.

“It’s great, we love it,” he commented.

“We love the support and they’re always here supporting us. It’s great to have the fans back in, especially when we could hear them like we could.”

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s match at Tranmere. You can purchase from the Ticket Office window, over the phone or via our e-ticketing site.

Please note, these are physical tickets.
