Osadebe: "There's a lot more to come"

1 April 2021

Walsall midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe feels there’s more to come from him after he opened his Saddlers account last month.

The 24-year-old scored from penalty spot against Crawley Town and was a creative figure against Grimsby Town last week.

Osadebe has looked more influential in recent games and is confident he will add more goals to his game after the relief of scoring his first for the Saddlers.

“It was on my mind because I had chances,” Osadebe said.

“I hit the crossbar, I hit the post so I should have had quite a lot of goals from good chances. Once I scored that I felt that they are coming now and that’s what I need to add to my game.

“Scoring goals, creating assists and showing what I can do. It’s a team thing but on a personal level I wasn’t happy with myself earlier in the season but I feel like I’m growing into myself and I have a lot to show the fans.

“I haven’t really played the 10 on my own, it’s kind of one striker and two behind so almost a double 10. The position I’ve been playing whether it’s the 10 solo or the double, it’s improved my game a lot.

“It’s given me that edge to attack and show what I can do but at the same time learning a lot defensively. I’m only going to get better and there’s a lot more to come from me for sure.”

The Saddlers are without a win since January and will be looking to rectify that when they take on Harrogate Town tomorrow afternoon.

Osadebe felt the team showed good character to come from behind against Grimsby and believes wins will come soon.

“I think what we have to do is trust the process, keep doing what we’re told to do, believe in ourselves and it will definitely come for sure, 100 per cent,” he commented.

“We’ve shown that all through the season that even though we go a goal behind, we’re always in the game and I think that was important against Grimsby because it’s tough mentally. A lot will go through your head but we showed great character and a real positive from us to come back into that game.”
