Walsall midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe was delighted with the goal he scored that helped Brian Dutton’s side earn three points against Tranmere Rovers.
The 24-year-old curled in a beauty from 25-yards to score his first goal from open play for the Saddlers in what has been a fantastic few days for the Irishman who also registered two assists against Forest Green Rovers and signed a new contract.
Osadebe is now keen to continue adding more goals and assists but was pleased to be able to bring the type of finish he has produced regularly in training into a match.
“I remember I played the ball to Max and he carried it and as soon as he held off the opposition, I’ve come inside and I can see the other midfielder coming so I cut inside and I’ve done what I usually do in training and whip it and finally it’s gone in,” Osadebe said.
“It’s a fantastic feeling, I’m not going to lie. I said in an interview a couple of weeks ago that I need to add more goals and assists.
"Last week I added two assists and today I scored a goal so this is what I want to keep doing, keep improving and get this team back to where it’s supposed to be.”
The Saddlers made it four clean sheets from their last six matches on Tuesday night.
Osadebe was pleased with another clean sheet and with how the team improved in the second half against Tranmere Rovers.
“In the first half we weren’t at our best but we were still in and around the game,” he commented.
“All we needed to do was keep doing what we were doing, keep moving the ball and things will open up and eventually that’s what happened. Altogether I thought it was a fantastic performance from the boys.
"To keep another clean sheet and to get another win was good for the boys.”
Attention now turns to Saturday’s trip to Colchester United, with kick-off at 5.30pm.
