Walsall midfielder Alfie Bates insists the team will pick themselves up again after their defeat to Colchester United when they take on Salford City tonight.
The Saddlers fell to their first defeat in six on Saturday and will be looking to bounce back at the Banks’s Stadium this evening.
Bates has faith the squad as they’ve responded to defeats with a positive performance on numerous occasions this season and he is keen to right the wrongs from Saturday’s defeat tonight.
“We’ve got Salford on Tuesday night and we’re looking to put it right, looking to get the three points and kick on again,” said Bates.
“We’ve done it plenty of times this season when we’ve been through this patch. We lose a game, we pick ourselves back up and go again just like we always do.”
“Disappointing for all of us, we won the last two and got a few clean sheets. We felt we could build on it but we didn’t build on it today so we need to put it right on Tuesday and Saturday after that.”
Bates has found game time hard to come by in recent weeks.
He was pleased to get 30 minutes at the Jobserve Community Stadium on Saturday and is working hard to earn more opportunities.
“It was good to get on the pitch,” he commented.
“I haven’t been on the pitch recently but I just wanted to show what I was capable of.
“I always work hard on the training pitch and I try and show it in the matches. I haven’t shown it recently but I’m looking to put it right.”
“Sam, Kins and I are really close so whoever gets picked, we support each other, they’re two good players. We support each other all the way.”
The Saddlers kick-off at 7pm against Salford at the Banks's Stadium this evening and the game will be shown live on iFollow.
