A message from Supporter Liaison Officer ahead of new league season

11 September 2020

The start of another season is upon us; but this is no ordinary start.

We have been away for six months and it seems like years. The dreaded phrase “new normal” is being used but one thing will never change and that is our support for the club.

The supporters have been amazing; buying early bird season tickets at a time of great uncertainty.

There have also been fundraising activities from supporters which I know are greatly appreciated by the club.

The sale of shirts has been a real boost and I can’t wait to see them all when we get back to the ground.

The uncertainty is when we will get back to the ground but hopefully it will be in early October. I went on a tour of the ground to see the changes required for the behind closed doors games. The amount of effort being put in by the Directors and staff to get football back in the stadium is incredible.

There will be a lot more things to be done before supporters can go back in the stadium but I know the plans are all in hand. It will be a different experience but it will be great to get back watching football.

I know there are going to be many questions between now and our return to games and the club are doing everything possible to keep supporters up to date. Should you have any queries you feel haven’t been dealt with please contact me slo@walsallfc.co.uk.

I really think this is going to be our season and no one should be afraid to say the word promotion. The last six months have been incredibly difficult but let’s hope the football will bring some new found optimism in to our lives.
