Walsall Chairman Leigh Pomlett has penned a message to supporters ahead of our Sky Bet League Two opener against Grimsby Town.
Welcome to the first home league game of the season. I just wish, as I am sure you do, that circumstances were different and we were welcoming you to the stadium in person and I hope that soon that will be the case. In the meantime, I hope watching the game on iFollow is some level of compensation.
The team have started well with draws against higher league opposition. The commitment and hard work of the team is clear and we are pleased to have brought in three new players in the past week. Built on our core squad of last year we have real reasons to be very optimistic this season.
This though, remains a very tough time for EFL Clubs in general and Walsall FC is no exception. We have re-launched the season tickets and a number of supporters have already made the commitment and bought them without, as yet, being totally clear when they will be able to watch in the stadium. For this commitment, the club is very grateful as indeed I am.
I have said recently and I say again now, that due to the constraints imposed upon us by COVID-19 protocols we cannot always give you exactly what you want in terms of the exact seat or hospitality. I ask you to stick with us on this and the club will be doing their absolute best to accommodate everyone’s specific wish but being honest, this will not always be possible given the new regulations to which we must operate. I know this is causing frustration and some annoyance but please stick with us as the club is doing its upmost.
I want the fans back but I am determined that the Banks’s will be safest ground in the EFL for our supporters. When you return, I am determined that you even in a restricted crowd you feel safe and well looked after.
