Norman working hard on his attacking game

10 March 2020

Walsall defender Cameron Norman has revealed he has been working on the attacking side of his game.

Norman set up Elijah Adebayo’s first goal against Exeter City on Saturday with a pin-point cross to help the Saddlers earn a 3-1 victory.

The 24-year-old was pleased to see his cross lead to a goal and feels his hard work on the training ground is starting to pay off.

“We do a lot with Marcus Stewart,” he revealed.

“I get forward a lot so it’s important that I work on that side of the game as well as the defensive side so it’s good when you work hard in training and it comes off on the pitch and everyone’s happy so I was really happy with that one.

“If I can help in any way that I can, putting the balls in, I get forward as much as a wide man so it’s important that I work on that part of the game.

“They take a lot of weight off our shoulders when one goes in and that puts us in a good position.”

The Saddlers have picked up seven points against teams chasing promotion in their last three matches and Norman says those resulted have provided the squad a huge boost in confidence.

“Those kinds of games breed confidence into the boys,” he said.

“I think we’ve got a lot of confidence behind us at the moment so we don’t fear anyone, especially to take the points off Exeter today, they’re right up there so that shows what we can do and it’s a big confidence boost.”
