McDonald: 'We need to crack on and move onto the next one'

2 March 2020

Walsall midfielder Wes McDonald is already looking forward to Saturday’s game against Exeter City after Saturday’s game against Stevenage was postponed.

The game at the LAMEX stadium was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, giving the Saddlers an unexpected weekend off.

McDonald is itching to get back on the pitch and admitted he was disappointed to find out Saturday’s game wasn’t going to go ahead but insists the team have already re-focused ahead of a difficult game against the Grecians on Saturday.

“I was looking forward to playing Stevenage,” he said.

“I wanted to get a good three points away from home but that’s gone now and we need to crack on and move on to the next one.

“I’m looking forward to the game against Exeter and we’re looking to get that win.”

Having not played at the weekend, the Saddlers were able to up the tempo in training on Monday.

The hard work didn’t stop on Saturday either for McDonald who revealed he still kept himself active.

“I like to stay active because we would have been playing that day so I went for a jog to keep the mileage up and keep myself ticking,” he revealed.

“Training was a lot more intense on Monday too. We had an in-house game so we’re getting the mileage into the boys’ legs which is good.”
