Football Firsts: with Josh Gordon

19 March 2020

Walsall striker Josh Gordon has revealed some of his footballing firsts to Saddlers.co.uk!

First Match Attended

“I can’t remember the exact game but the first team I went to watch was Stoke City. We used to have season tickets as youngster.”

First Career Match

“My first ever game was for Newcastle Town as a youngster. I’d just been released from Stoke and I went there and was playing in the first team at 16. I think we played Chasetown away and we won.”

First Footballing Hero

“Thierry Henry and he always will be. I don’t think anyone can beat Thierry Henry. I’m an Arsenal fan as well and I don’t think anyone will ever be like him.

First Goal

“My first goal was at Newcastle Town. It was at home and it was my third game. It was outside the box, first time and with my left foot. I’ve scored quite a few with my left foot!”

First Kit

“It was an Arsenal kit. I didn’t have names on the back but my Dad used to get them for me. He convinced me to be an Arsenal fan.”

First Boots

“Puma Kings with the big flap on the front.”

First Roommate

“It was a lad called Josh Knight, who is on loan at Peterborough United, when I was at Leicester City. He’s a good character!”
