Going Down The Wednesbury Road - Steven Pratt shares his memories

12 June 2020

Our new Going Down The Wednesbury Road feature gives Saddlers fans the chance to share their memories of supporting the club down the years.

In the latest instalment of the feature, Steven Pratt, from Telford, talked through his favourite memories supporting the Saddlers.

What was your first ever game at the Banks's Stadium?

It was the 1994/95 season, I went with my mum and dad and we sat at the back of the family stand and we lost 3-1 to Chesterfield.

What is the best game you've seen at the Banks's Stadium?

The 4-2 win against Stoke City in play-offs came close, but the best home game was beating West Bromwich Albion 4-1, everything we touched went in, blazing sunshine, oh and one Paul Merson made his debut!

Who is the most talented player you've seen at the Banks's Stadium?

I'd have to go with Merson, he could pick a pass nobody else could and could draw in other players to free ours up and come up with the occasional goal or two.

Who is your favourite ever Walsall player?

SUPER JIM! Jimmy Walker is my pick, he is walsall through and through. Cracking goalkeeper and unlucky never to be selected in an England squad due to his height!
