Walsall Football Club are pleased to confirm a two-year deal has been agreed with Aston Villa Women to play their home games at the Banks’s Stadium from the start of the 2020-21 season.
This follows last week’s news that Gemma Davies’ side have been awarded the FA Women’s Championship title and subsequent promotion to the Women’s Super League.
Aston Villa Women will play at the Banks’s on either Saturdays or Sundays from 2020-21, with all kick-offs set for 5.30pm.
Villa Women Sporting Director Eniola Aluko expressed her excitement at the team moving into a bigger stadium from next season.
She said: “Having secured promotion to the WSL we are delighted to have agreed a two-year agreement with Walsall to play all of our home matches at the Banks’s Stadium.
“At 11,000 Banks’s Stadium will be the one of the largest capacity stadiums in the WSL league which is exciting and promising for the future of our club, the players, and the loyal support of our local fanbase.
“Walsall have hosted England women's national team games in the past, so we are excited to work alongside the club to host regular women's football fixtures in women's professional football.”
Daniel Mole, Walsall’s Chief Operating Officer is also looking forward to working with Aston Villa Women.
“We are delighted to welcome Aston Villa Women to the Banks’s Stadium and are looking forward to working with them over the course of the next two years,” he said.
“Having secured promotion to the WSL, we are proud to be their home venue for their first season in the top flight of Women’s football.
“We have invested in the resurfacing of the Banks’s Stadium pitch to ensure it is able to cope with the additional fixtures.
“We also want to build a relationship between Aston Villa Women and our own women’s teams. The first team, whilst continuing at Rushall Olympic’s superb Dales Lane, will also enjoy use of the Banks’s Stadium for at least one game per season as we look to evolve and expand the women’s section of our own club.
“Working alongside Eniola and her team is something that we are all excited about.”
