Walsall progress after shootout victory over Chasetown

Walsall progressed to the quarter-finals of the Walsall Senior Cup with a penalty shootout victory over Chasetown.

The hosts took the lead in the first half through Jack Langston whose free-kick beat Tommy Jackson in the Walsall goal.

Danny Coogan levelled for the Saddlers in the 87th minute to force a penalty shootout.

Miguel Llera’s side were on the back foot early on in the shootout as Joe Willis and Mitch Candlin both saw their penalties saved.

Levi Reid netted Chasetown’s first spot kick but Jack Langston failed to convert their second.

Jayden Campbell got Walsall up and running before Chasetown keeper converted to make it 2-1 to the hosts.

Coogan made it 2-2 before Kieran Brown missed for Chasetown. Sam Perry made it 3-2 before Joseph Brown missed Chasetown’s final kick.
