Scarr: "We go into it with confidence"

24 January 2020

Walsall defender Dan Scarr says the Saddlers are heading into their trip to Carlisle full of confidence after their comeback victory against Crawley Town last week.

Darrell Clarke’s side will be looking to make it back-to-back wins and avenge their 2-1 defeat to Cumbrians last month.

Scarr hailed the team’s character after the comeback against Crawley and is keen to push on in the coming games.

“We’ve got to take each game as it comes and keep working hard in training, keep listening to the coaches, go into the next game with good confidence that we’re going to back each other and give it a good go,” he said.

“That’s all we need to do; every game we play we need to take it to the team we’re playing.

“I think that’s the first time we’ve done that this season, going a goal behind and coming back. It was a sloppy goal we conceded anyway so we need to eradicate those sorts of things but it showed great character from the lads to keep pushing.

“Crawley are a good side; they’re raw up front and you don’t really know what you’re going to get with them so to suss that out and put a stop to that and go on and win the game gives us good confidence going into this game."

Walsall have lost just two of their last 11 league games (to Cheltenham Town and tomorrow’s opponents Carlisle) and the 25-year-old wants to continue building momentum.

“I don’t think we quite got it right between us in the Cheltenham game but credit to them they’re a good footballing side, but other than that we’ve had a good couple of months really so we need to get that spirit together and keep continuing that form,” Scarr added.
