OFFICIAL: Nathan Sheron joins the Saddlers on loan

21 January 2020

Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce that midfielder Nathan Sheron has joined on loan until the end of the season from League One side Fleetwood Town.

The 22-year-old  was a nearly ever present for the Cod Army last season, making over 30 appearances in all competitions, and has featured in the Leasing.com Trophy for them this season.

Sheron, who can play in defence as well as midfield, made his Football league debut in August 2018 and becomes the Saddlers' second signing on the January transfer window.

On arrival, Sheron admitted that he's excited to get going and is looking forward to working with manager Darrell Clarke.

"I’m made up to be here," said Sheron. "I’m really looking forward to the upcoming games and I’m ready to get going.

"During my loan spell I just want to get Walsall up the table. I want to be playing games whilst I’m here and I'm looking forward to getting into the games and hopefully getting us into a play-off position.

"I just want to make an impact whilst I’m with the club. I want to help the boys out as much as possible and better the team as well as myself if possible.

"Hopefully if I am given the chance, I can make an impact this weekend in our game against Carlisle."

On his style of play, Sheron highlighted some key characteristics that manager Clarke is looking for.

"I’m a defensive midfielder by nature. I like to get stuck in, I like to win the ball and then get us moving. I like to play and get on it a lot and move the ball about. I’m here to help the team out."

Clarke, who revealed last week that the club were close to adding a midfielder to the squad, revealed he's very pleased to add some brute force into the middle of the park.

“We’re very pleased to add Nathan to the squad," said Clarke.

“He’s played quite a few games in League One and he will give us extra competition in the midfield area.

“He strengthens the squad and offers us something different.

“I’m sure he’ll have a positive impact during his spell with us.”
