Kinsella nominated for EFL community award

23 January 2020

Saddlers midfielder Liam Kinsella has been nominated for the PFA Player in the Community at the EFL Awards.

Kinsella supported a range of Walsall FC Community Programme projects during 2019, including soccer schools and primary school visits, displaying an outstanding attitude towards work carried out in the community.

The 23-year-old is also the club’s 2019/20 PFA player ambassador for Social Inclusion, following on from his time as Sports Participation ambassador in 2018/19.

Kinsella said: “I’m really proud to be nominated for the award, and always happy to help out in the community.

“Being recognised as the club’s Community Player of the Year last season was a real highlight for me, and acting as a PFA ambassador for two seasons is another thing that I’m honoured to be part of.

“We’re proud as players to be heavily involved in the community and looking forward to seeing how it develops in the future.”

The annual awards recognise outstanding community engagement from players across the EFL’s 72 clubs during the calendar year.

Entries will judged and shortlisted for the award, before winners for each league and an overall PFA Player in the Community are announced at the event in April.

Adam Davy, Community Director, said: “Liam’s engagement within the community has always been excellent, and he was consistently a champion for the scheme throughout 2019.”
