Clarke keen to reboot ahead of Crewe test

30 January 2020

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke says his side have ‘rebooted’ ahead of Saturday’s game against Crewe Alexandra.

The Saddlers will be looking to end a disappointing week on a high after recent defeat to Carlisle United and Morecambe.

Clarke is keen to right the wrongs when his team take on Crewe and says steps have been taken to try and bounce back.

"The first thing is picking your squad of players up because I have a squad that cares and are hard working,” said Clarke.

"You get in the process of doing that by rebooting at the training ground and picking a team ready to go out there fighting.

"When you start at 3pm the score is 0-0 and I'm sure the fans will get right behind us if we can start the game on the front foot.

"It's good we've got a game whether it's home or away, you get the opportunity to put it right.”

The Saddlers take on high-flying Crewe at the Banks’s on Saturday.

Clarke is keen to play on the front foot on Saturday as he looks to stifle his promotion chasing opponents.

"Crewe are up there fighting for automatic promotion, they've been consistent,” he commented.

"I don't think there's a lot of difference between the top and bottom of the table.

"Crewe are a possession-based football team and they can open you up if you don't get in their faces and press, they'll pick you off.

"Also, they can be got at, like most teams in this division.

"We've shown over a period of time that we're more of a match for any team this season but some of the results we've shot ourselves in the foot.”
