Walsall goalkeeper Jack Rose was pleased to get 90 minutes under his belt in Walsall’s Reserves earlier this week.
Rose hasn’t featured since November 9th for the First Team with Liam Roberts in fine form for the Saddlers.
Despite Rose’s best efforts, Walsall suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mansfield Town on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old was disappointed with the result but was delighted to get on the pitch.
“I was buzzing to get 90 minutes,” he said.
“Obviously it’s been a while for me so it’s good to get out there and get a match under your belt.
“I thought the lads tried hard, their goal was our own undoing and we should have done a lot better with that goal and ultimately it’s cost us the game.”
Rose is keen to utilise the upcoming reserve games to help stake a claim for a starting berth and believes hard work is key to winning a place in the starting XI.
“All I can do is look after myself like everyone else on the pitch,” he added.
“As long as you try your hardest and give everything, hopefully your ability will takeover that. I think I played well (on Tuesday) as well.
“Wherever I can get a game I’ll look to play and that’s all I need really, just to get some games under my belt and then hopefully away we go.”
