Walsall striker Jake Scrimshaw couldn’t hide his delight after scoring his first ever professional goals on Saturday.
The 20-year-old, on loan from AFC Bournemouth, scored twice after coming off the bench at half time in the Saddlers’ thrilling 4-3 victory over Port Vale.
Scrimshaw couldn’t stop smiling after the final whistle and was on top of the world after the match.
“I can’t explain, the feeling I’ve got right now is amazing,” Scrimshaw said.
“It’s a dream come true, especially to do it here in such a game to get us a fourth win on the bounce so it’s just amazing.
“I’ve dreamt of this moment ever since I was a kid. That first one where I’ve gone through, I’ve slid and I saw it rolling in, honestly I couldn’t explain the feeling that I had and to get the second one is just even better to top it off.
“Hayden played me through, it was a great pass and he’s left me one on one. I was so tight to the near post so I thought ‘just smash it’ and it went into the roof of the net then after that I was running to get the ball.”
The striker is keen for Walsall to build on their victory and keep their momentum going as they look ahead to Boxing Day’s trip to Salford City.
“At the moment we’re on a roll and to keep that momentum is key,” added Scrimshaw.
“When we went two all we all had belief, even when we went 3-2 down we kept going and we equalised quick and then after that Scarry scored with another header.”
