Walsall FC and Walsall FC Community Programme are helping fans to tackle their weight, get healthier and be happier by joining our free FIT SADDLERS programme.
After a pause due to Covid-19, the free 12-week programme will now start at the Banks’s Stadium in September.
FIT SADDLERS is aimed at 35-65 year-olds who want to reach the goal of a healthier lifestyle, with women’s sessions on Tuesday evenings (starting 8 September) and men’s on Friday evenings (starting 11 September).
The EFL’s FIT FANS project is aimed at football fans, and all aspects of FIT SADDLERS sessions are delivered inside different areas of the Banks’s Stadium.
Each week participants will work through 45 minutes of discussion topics including healthy eating, activity, hydration and alcohol. This is followed by 45 minutes of physical activity, tailored for those new to exercise or those who have been out of the swing of things for a while.
The programme also includes a visit from a player, ex-player or club ambassador (subject to availability), and 2 free tickets to a future Walsall FC home game.
Chris Springthorpe, Health Officer at Walsall FCCP, said: It’s been fantastic to be chosen as one of the club’s to be involved in FIT FANS. Saddlers fans have a great opportunity to be part of the free programme, which has been life-changing for many people already in England and Scotland.”
Mike Evans, Director of Operations, at EFL Trust said: “FIT FANS is an example of our potential to make a really significant contribution to the health of our communities. We are excited by the prospect of rolling the programme out across our network and reaching many thousands of men and women.”
