Facey pleased to make Saddlers debut

4 September 2019

Walsall defender Shay Facey ‘enjoyed every minute’ of his Saddlers debut on Tuesday night.

The full-back has had to work hard and wait for his opportunity but he was delighted to get out on the pitch and play 90 minutes.

“It was a long awaited start for me getting on the field but I enjoyed every minute of it and I’m looking to build on what was a strong, steady performance,” he said.

“You need all the players in the team and the lads that are not in the team need to push each other and that’s what I’ve been doing and I think I’ve deserved my chance.”

Walsall are still searching for their first win since the opening day of the season but feels it’s only a matter of time before results will turn and belief is key to getting over the line.

“We’re working so hard in training and we believe. All we can do is believe and that’s what we’re doing,” Facey commented.

“I just think repetition and being clinical in training and taking it into the games will get us over the line.”
