Clarke: 'Every game's a big game'

17 September 2019

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke insists every game is a big game in Sky Bet League Two regardless of the circumstances.

The Saddlers travel to Morecambe this evening as they look to end their current winless run.

Clarke says the players will be galvanised for tonight’s game and reiterated the importance of every match.

“They’re all big,” said Clarke.

“Even if I’d won nine out of nine they’re all big to me. Every time we cross the line, every game is a big game; there shouldn’t be any game in professional football that isn’t a big game.

“We’ll go up there, full of confidence, we’ll pick the players up and go there with a plan and try and get three points.”

Walsall have found goals hard to come by of late but Clarke says the players have been focusing on improving their attacking play in training and believes they’ll soon see the results of their hard work.

“I’m sick of saying it but for five, six weeks we’ve hammered our forward play,” he revealed.

“We’ve hammered our work and in training the ball is hitting the back of the net but in matches it’s not going anywhere near it, so we’ve got to keep working and drilling it.”

Kick-off at the Globe Arena is at 7.45pm this evening.
