Walsall boss Darrell Clarke is keen for the Saddlers progress in the Leasing.com Trophy.
Clarke's team take on Southampton Under 21s tonight looking to put themselves in a strong position in the Southern Section Group B.
The Saddlers picked up a point from their first Leasing.com Trophy game after a penalty shootout defeat following a draw at Coventry City.
Clarke is eyeing victory tonight and stressed the importance of the game.
“It’s a game I want to win that’s for sure,” he said.
“We want to progress in the competition and we’ll give it our best shot Tuesday night.”
Clarke is looking forward to the challenge of facing Southampton Under 21s and is expecting a difficult game given Southampton’s performance against Forest Green Rovers in the last round of games.
“They’ll be fully professional, Southampton, as you’d expect. They ran Forest Green very close the first game.
“They’re very much possession-based teams, the under 21s, they’re different sort of games but we’ll be ready for it and we’re looking forward to it.”
The Saddlers will go into the game in confident mood after they recorded their third consecutive league win after a 3-2 win at Crawley.
While Clarke was disappointed to see his side concede two goals, he was pleased to encouraged to see his team score three times and has called for more of the same going forward.
“It was pleasing to get the away fans some goals,” he commented.
“Obviously we have to score a lot more goals through the course of the campaign.
“We have to make sure we’re tight at the back, the ball gets a deflection for the second goal which you can’t do a lot about, ref’s had a lucky dip with the penalty.
“I’m disappointed to concede two goals but we’re pleased we got three at the other end.”
Tickets for tonight's game are just £10 for adults, £5 concessions and £1 for Under 12s and are still available from the ticket office.
