Pring hopeful on first team return

18 October 2019

Walsall defender Cameron Pring was pleased to play over 60 minutes for the reserves earlier this week and is hoping to be involved against his former club Cheltenham Town this weekend.

Pring hasn’t featured for the first team since September 7th after he injured his ankle against Colchester United.

It’s been a frustrating time for the 21-year-old but he was pleased to get back on the pitch in the reserves during their 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town.

“I got through it well,” he said.

“I’m feeling fit and the ankle’s feeling a lot better. It’s always frustrating being out injured, being in the gym and watching the lads train.

“You can’t do anything about it on game days when it’s going wrong or it’s going right so it’s always frustrating but you’ve just got to keep going and get on with it.”

Pring will be hoping to return to league action against his former club.

The Robins gave him an opportunity as a teenager and also he also spent six months on loan at Whaddon Road last season and has mixed memories of both spells.

“I was there from when I was 14 until I was 18 so I’ve got a lot of good memories there,” he commented.

“They helped me progress. I did a college course with them and I played with the academy so they gave me that opportunity even though I wasn’t actually in the academy.

“I was there last year as well and it was a frustrating time as I didn’t play as much as I wanted to.

“I’ll be buzzing if I’m involved on Saturday, it will be nice to take on a team I’ve played with before.”
