Preview: Oldham v Walsall

22 October 2019

Walsall will be looking to end their three match losing run when they travel to Oldham Athletic tonight.

The Saddlers are 19th in Sky Bet League Two but are still six points off the play-off places.

Dino Maamria’s Oldham are 21st and are without a win in five matches in all competitions so both sides will be desperate to bounce back.

TEAM NEWS

Walsall will be without Liam Kinsella who is suspended after picking up five bookings, but will have Dan Scarr available for selection who served his one-match ban against Cheltenham.

As for Oldham, Tomas Egert and Mohamed Sylla are suspended, while Dylan Fage, Johan Branger-Engone and Zak Mills are currently injured.

HEAD TO HEAD

Tonight will be 60th meeting between the Saddlers and the Latics.

Walsall have won 23 while Oldham have been victorious on 22 occassions.

The Saddlers are unbeaten in their last three meetings against Oldham.

The most recent meeting came in April 2018 as the Saddlers earned a 1-1 draw with Jack Fitzwater netting for Walsall.

FROM THE DUGOUT

Darrell Clarke: "They have to learn, it's a young group, very, very young group. When things aren't going well, it's about how you respond to that.”

"They're showing me a lot more in training than they are in matches. But you get paid for matches."

Dino Maamria: "We definitely need to start on the front foot tonight, against a Walsall team who are in a similar situation to ourselves.

"Both Scunthorpe and Walsall have been through lots of changes since relegation, like ourselves, and that change is never easy.”
