Walsall striker Caolan Lavery is keen kick-start his season after a making his return from a six week injury lay-off.
The striker made his comeback against Swindon Town earlier this month and has already returned to the scoresheet after he netted Walsall’s equaliser against Darlington last week.
The 27-year-old started against Forest Green Rovers. He is now fully fit and looking to make an impact for the Saddlers in the league.
“I’m looking forward to kick-starting my season,” Lavery said.
“All you want to do as a footballer is play football. When you’re injured it’s difficult because you have do work away from the group and when things aren’t going well, you want to be available and make a difference but now that I’m back I want to play a part.”
The forward is hoping Tuesday’s victory can be used as a catalyst for a change in fortunes as the Saddlers are set to embark on a busy month.
“It’s a big month,” Insists Lavery.
“Every game is important now, but hopefully we can push on and turnaround our league form.
“We’ve been saying for the last few weeks that every game is important but for whatever reason it hasn’t happened for us.
“We had a little talk in the dressing room and we’re all on the same page, we all want to do well so hopefully Tuesday is a stepping stone.”
The Saddlers take on Cambridge United this weekend and Lavery feels they will provide different challenges on the day.
“They’ve done alright this season,” he stated.
“They’re mid-table. I know the team well enough, they’re going to be a passing team but they’ll also do the dirty side well too so we’re going to have to be clever about it.”
All tickets for tomorrow's game are priced at £5.
