Kinsella: We deserved Cambridge win

18 November 2019

Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella felt Walsall were full value for their victory over Cambridge United.

The midfielder helped the Saddlers end their six match losing run in Sky Bet League Two with an energetic display on Saturday.

The 23-year-old is now keen to push on following their 6-0 win over Forest Green Rovers in the Leasing.com Trophy and an ‘outstanding’ performance against Cambridge.

“Every player on the pitch did something and was outstanding.

“To a man, they all put a real shift in and rightfully we got the three points.

“I thought we were outstanding and rightfully got the three points and we can kick on now.”

Kinsella is already looking forward to Walsall’s upcoming fixtures against Darlington (in an FA Cup First Round replay) and Stevenage in the league.

He believes the teams unity has helped get them through a difficult run and is keen to take that positive energy into this week’s matches.

“The unity in the dressing room is outstanding.

“The players work hard, all the back-room staff work so hard to get the results on the pitch and thankfully the last two have gone our way.

“We're playing well. Hopefully we can go to Darlington on Wednesday and beat them.

“It's a good chance to get to the second round of the FA Cup and take it to Stevenage, another home game.”
