Keates: keep showing the same work-rate and endeavour

25 March 2019

Dean Keates is confident the Saddlers will stay in League One if his side continue to show the same work-rate and endeavour.

Jacob Brown struck in the second minute of stoppage time to give Barnsley a 1-0 win at the Banks’s, in a game that was largely dominated by the Saddlers.

Walsall had by far the better opportunities over the course of the 90 minutes and the manager feels his side aren’t getting the rub of the green.

“We aren’t getting those small margins at the moment,” said Keates.

“When you are at the top of the league, one or two things bounce in your favour.

“We are not getting that luck or bit of fortune. We have to keep working hard, that’s what we are about.

“The endeavour and work-rate is all there. I’m sure if we take that into the rest of the season, we will make sure we are in League One next season.

“We will look at the things we didn’t do well but there will be an awful lot of positives because we played on the front foot.

“Now we have to make sure we play on the front foot against Doncaster and I am confident we will go there and get something out of the game.”
