Keates delighted with Saddlers' half-time response

9 March 2019

Saddlers manager Dean Keates was delighted his players responded to his half-time message as goals from Morgan Ferrier and Dan Scarr secured all three points against Fleetwood Town.

Keates asked his players to unleash their unused energy and he feels as though the team rightly deserved the points that they picked up.

“It was a very similar game to last week but we have obviously got the goals this time round,” said Keates.

“We are delighted and it is three points that will push us in the right direction. We have now got a big game on Tuesday night again.

“We have been working on set-pieces and it is something that we have flagged up in recent weeks but we have only recently scored from two in the last couple of games.

“We haven’t been clinical enough from them this season and they are a massive part of the game.

“There weren’t any real chances in the first half, they had a cross in the opening stages and we had the Joe Edwards stinging volley which was a decent effort at goal.

“We spoke to the lads at half time about having an extra 10, 15 or 20% in the tank and we asked them to go and unleash it so to say.

“They did that in the second half, we started brightly, we were on the front foot and we rightly deserved the three points that we got."
