Clarke: we won't rush Kory back

12 June 2019

Saddlers manager Darrell Clarke is optimistic that defender Kory Roberts will be able to take part in all of his pre-season preparations.

The team return from their summer break in just under two weeks' time and Roberts will be looking to get stuck in from the get go after being out of action for almost a year.

Roberts, 21, suffered a double leg break in a pre-season friendly against Championship side Stoke City last summer and while Clarke is keen to see the youngster back in action, he insists that he won’t be rushing him.

“We are hoping that Kory can go straight back into preseason training when the lads come back at the end of June,” Clarke said.

“He has still got to have his plate out but we are hoping that he will be able to do a fair amount of work in preseason.

“I don’t like putting timescales on things like that but we will see how things go and we will link in with the physio at every opportunity to see if we can get him back with the group as quickly as possible.”
