Keates disappointed with Saddlers' form

16 February 2019

Dean Keates expressed his disappointment with his side’s poor form after the Saddlers’ 3-0 defeat by Coventry.

Ex-Walsall players Amadou Bakayoko and Jordy Hiwula scored first-half goals, with Bright Enobakhare netting a second-half penalty.

“Five defeats on the bounce, it’s nowhere near good enough in the predicament we’re in,” said Keates.

“They’re not performing as a group. Let’s not paper over anything, we’re in horrendous form.

“The club needs to stabilise – we need to find a result to build on. There are 36 points to play for.

“We had a frank, honest discussion in the changing room about what needs to be done and what’s not good enough.

“In the first 30 minutes of the first half, they had a lot of the ball but we were always in the game.

“The players have to regroup and they have to make sure they give something to this football club next week and represent the football club to the best of their ability.”
