Pring pleased to be back from injury

17 December 2019

Walsall defender Cameron Pring was pleased to make his return from injury in Walsall’s 1-1 draw with Macclesfield Town at the weekend.

Pring came off the bench at half time and had a hand in Wes McDonald’s equaliser.

The 21-year-old featured for the first time since 9th November and was delighted to be back on the pitch and is hoping to put his injury troubles behind him and kick on.

“I feel good,” said Pring.

"Hopefully I can stay fit now and get a run of games like I managed to get at the start of the season.

“It is frustrating for me because I have come on loan to Walsall to play games and constantly being on the sidelines with an injury is frustrating. It’s good to see the boys doing well and hopefully now that I am back fit, I am in a team that is doing well and I can help keep us on this good run.”

Pring looked sharp on his return and recorded his first assist, setting up McDonald’s leveller.

The defender enjoyed playing alongside the winger and is hoping to contribute to more goals.

It’s just nice to be able to get an assist to be fair,” he commented.

“It has been a long time coming. I didn’t think I’d have to wait until December to get my first assist for the club but now I’ve got it, I want to build on it.

“Hopefully I can get myself back into the team and get some more games under my belt and start helping the team out a lot more.

It’s nice having Wes in front of me because I don’t constantly have to overlap him. It was a great finish by him into the far bottom corner and it’s something he’s adding to his game a lot more now.”

The Saddlers now turn their attention to Saturday’s trip to Exeter.
