Gordon feels Saddlers have become more resilient

20 December 2019

Walsall striker Josh Gordon feels the Saddlers have developed a strong resilience in recent weeks.

The Saddlers have lost just one of their last nine games and are four unbeaten in the league.

Darrell Clarke’s team came from behind to earn a point against Macclesfield Town last weekend and also fought back from 2-0 down to beat Chelsea Under 21s earlier this month.

Gordon believes the team are progressing as a result of their never say die attitude and felt the result against the Silkmen may have been different had a couple of months ago.

"We said after the Macclesfield game, in October we would probably lose that game,” Gordon said.

"We've started to create a bit more resilience.

"To be able to come back into games now - we've shown that we've started to progress.”

Gordon feels the team are creating more opportunities and has been pleased to the strikers find the net in recent games.

"Towards the start of the season the strikers were looking at where the chances were going to come from,” he added.

"But as you've seen in the games of late, we've had more chances.

"People are getting on the goalsheet a bit more.

"As long as we can continue getting those chances then I think the goals will start coming.”
