Saddlers players Josh Gordon and Shay Facey visited Staffordshire University Academy in Hednesford on Thursday.
The pair were introduced to the Year Seven class and took part in a mock press conference to test the group’s journalism skills.
The students have tried their hand at sports journalism as part of sessions with Walsall FC Community Programme, looking at the various jobs in football.
Gordon and Facey then answered any other questions from the students, and signed autographs for everyone.
Paul Larvin, Manager for Education at Walsall FCCP, said: “It was great for Josh and Shay to be here and give the children a chance to test their interview skills.
“We have looked at journalism as one of our jobs in football so it was good to recreate a post-match press conference to show the children that, and how tricky it can be to ask the right questions!
“It was also great of the two players to talk about their mindset and helping the children aspire to great things.”
