Four Schools Reach Walsall Kids Cup Finals

5 December 2019

Four primary schools have been confirmed as finalists for Walsall FC’s Kids Cup.

Leighswood, Walsall Wood, Landywood, and St John’s C of E Primary Schools won their rounds of the competition, and will now be back at the Banks’s Stadium in February to compete in the Saddlers’ final.

The winners will go on to represent Walsall FC against other League Two teams in the regional finals, with a chance to play in the grand final at Wembley Stadium up for grabs.

The football competitions, organised by Walsall FC Community Programme, saw 40 primary schools take part and over 300 children playing at the Banks’s Stadium across November and December.

The EFL Kids Cup, sponsored by Utilita Energy, is a national six-a-side competition for Year 5 and 6 pupils.

Community Manager for Education, Paul Larvin, said: “It has been great to see so many children taking part in the EFL Kids Cup this year.

“It provides a brilliant opportunity for a Walsall school to represent the football club. The rounds this year have been really competitive and we’re looking forward to the finals now.

“Thanks to everyone for taking part and we will be running further Premier League Primary Stars football festivals and competitions next school term.”
