Martin O’Connor wants the Saddlers to go out against Shrewsbury and put in a similar performance to the one against Peterborough.
The Saddlers registered their first win in nine games with victory over Posh, thanks to efforts from Josh Gordon, Andy Cook and an own goal from Daniel Lafferty.
O’Connor’s side now head to Shrewsbury on the final day of the season, knowing a win is needed.
“We have got one game left against our local rivals and this win [against Peterborough] takes us into the last game of the season with something to play for,” said O’Connor.
“Irrespective of what happens elsewhere on Saturday, we’ve got to produce another performance like that. If we do, then I’ll be happy.
“It showed that when we give them instructions and work at things all week, and it comes to fruition on a Saturday, that they’ve got to believe and that’s what they’ve done.
“If the fans see some desire, a tackle, a cross, a shot, they will get behind you and that’s what happened.
“I know the Walsall fans from years ago and I knew that’s all the fans wanted.
“We’ve got to go to Shrewsbury and perform like that. If we perform like that, I’m not going to have any qualms about what happens at the end of the 90 minutes.”
