Saddlers duo head out on loan

2 November 2018

Walsall duo Dan Vann and Callum Cockerill-Mollett have today joined Chasetown FC in a loan deal which will keep the pair with the Scholars until February, subject to the necessary Clearance.

Vann, 19, signed his first professional contract with the Saddlers in 2016 and has enjoyed previous loan spells with Stafford Rangers and Matlock Town respectively.

Fellow defender Cockerill-Mollett, also 19, was named the club's Apprentice of the Season in the 2016/17 season and made his first team debut for the Saddlers in September 2016.

The pair spoke to of their delight at getting more first team experience, having both already been out on loan this season.

“I’m happy to go out on loan again” said Vann.

“The manager rang me yesterday when I was at home and basically pointed out that I had the chance to go out on loan and get some minutes under my belt.

“To go out on loan again is good because I haven’t played many games this season so to go out again and play against men whilst gaining minutes on the pitch will help me with my development.

“I have experience of playing non-league football already so hopefully I can get into the action straight away.”

“My experience at Matlock was short but I managed to stay match fit by playing games so hopefully I can continue this and play for Chasetown on Saturday.”

Cockerill-Mollett continued: "It's another good experience for me to go out on loan and get some more minutes under my belt.

"For my development, this is another step in the right direction and I can't wait to get going.

"To go there at the same time as Dan is a bonus as well because we can both help each other settle in."

Their first game, if selected, will be away against Colwyn Bay in the Evo-Stik League West Division.
