Cook likened to Rammell

23 May 2018

Boss Dean Keates has likened new signing Andy Cook to former Saddlers hero Andy Rammell.

Cook, who scored 28 goals in Tranmere Rovers’ National League promotion-winning term last season, penned a two-year deal at WS1 yesterday.

And immediately, Keates revealed that his all-action style was similar to that of ‘Rambo’ Rammell who achieved cult status at the Banks’s Stadium during his two-year stint between 1998-2000.

“He reminds me a lot of Andy Rammell,” the boss explained. “He will help us get up the field and the ball will stick.

“He wins headers – in both boxes – and likes to put himself about. Defenders will know that he’s there. Put balls in the box and he’ll score goals.

“He’s my first signing for the football club. I’ve watched him as a manager and I’ve played against him; he’s big and strong and scores goals.”
