Community: Football Festivals

21 March 2018

Walsall FC Community Programme have hosted two football festivals for local schools over the past fortnight.

As part of the Premier League Primary Stars initiative, 11 primary schools entered a total of 14 teams of Year 5 and 6 children.

With every school playing each other on the day, the focus was not on competitive matches, but allowing the children to enjoy lots of football in a fun and safe environment.

Walsall FCCP will also be running similar events for Year 3 and 4 children in the coming weeks at the Banks’s Stadium

Paul Larvin, Community Manager for Education, said: “It’s great we were able to host these matches over the past two Wednesdays.

“It is fantastic to allow children to play games against other schools, an opportunity they may not have had without these festivals.

“And it’s also very rewarding to allow some different children, who may not always have the chance to play in their school teams, to have a great time playing football.”
