Dean Keates felt tonight’s pre-season friendly at Rushall Olympic was a worthwhile exercise for his players.
A Justin Richards effort and a Nicky Devlin own goal gave the Pics a 2-1 win, with a trialist netting for the Saddlers, who fielded 25 players in total.
“We were disappointed with the final score, but we got out of it what we thought we would,” said Keates.
“You get a tough physical battle here and that’s always going to be the case.
“We got minutes into the lads so I’m happy with that and everyone has come through it fine.
“It was a case of trying to balance it, with those who got the least minutes the ones who covered the most distance during the week.”
