Ginnelly keen to show what he can do

4 July 2018

Josh Ginnelly is keen to show the Saddlers fans what he is capable of.

The 21-year-old, who rejoined the club on a one-year deal earlier this summer, made 14 appearances on loan at Walsall during the 2016/17 season.

Ginnelly has since enjoyed successful loan spells at Lincoln and Tranmere, helping both win promotion back to the EFL.

The Coventry-born winger feels he has come a long way since his first spell at the Banks’s – and is eager to demonstrate exactly what he can do.

“I was young and my mindset was very different back then,” said the former Burnley man.

“I hadn’t been out on loan before and it was my first real experience of the Football League. I was still getting to grips with things.

“Initially I couldn’t get in the team. Then I got in the team but then I came out again.

“I put pressure on myself. It didn’t come from the fans or anywhere else, it was from me because I wanted to be the best I could be.

“It didn’t work out the first time but I’m really looking forward to the new season and showing what I can do.

“I was 18-years-old. I’m looking forward to this time because I have learnt a lot since then.

“I’m 21-years-old, it’s coming to the point where I need to prove myself and I know I will.”
