Saddlers sign Justin Shaibu on loan from Brentford

29 January 2018

Walsall Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Brentford’s Justin Shaibu on loan until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The Danish forward becomes our second January signing following the capture of George Dobson earlier in the transfer window.

Shaibu has made six Championship appearances for The Bees, and netted his first goal in English football this season in Brentford’s 3-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.

The 20-year-old joined Brentford from HB Køge in 2016 and signed a new three-year deal with the club in the summer.

Manager Jon Whitney is delighted to add to his offensive options.

“We needed some reinforcements up top and it’s important that Justin came in,” said Whitney.

“I spoke to Dean Smith about him in the last transfer window, and they weren’t too keen to let him out but he needs games now.

“They brought him in from Denmark in 2016 and they see him as having a very big future.

“He’s got raw pace and he gives us that threat up front.

“Dean knows how we work here and that we can help to develop him between now and the end of the season.

“He’ll also come in and give us that attacking threat.”

Subject to the relevant clearance being received, Shaibu is in contention for tomorrow's game at Ewood Park. Shaibu will wear squad number 16 during his spell with The Saddlers.
