Kinsella signs contract extension

17 January 2018

Right-back Liam Kinsella has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Walsall until at least the summer of 2019.

The 21-year-old has featured regularly for the Saddlers this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions.

“I’m delighted to get another year with the club,” said the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.

“I’ve been here since I was eight and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

“It’s a good place to be for a young player and I’m looking forward to playing my football here over the next year and a half.

“I’ve tried to improve every year appearance wise – and I’ve been getting more appearances every season.

“This season I’ve been trying to nail down right-back and put in the best performances I can.

“I want to play as many games as I can and produce the best performances I can when I play.”

A product of the club’s youth system, Colchester-born Kinsella made his senior debut against Bradford in August 2014 and appeared five times that campaign.

He featured on nine occasions the following season, scoring his first career goal in a 2-0 victory over Burton in October 2015.

The son of ex-Saddler Mark, Kinsella played 12 times last term and helped our Development Squad win the Central League North West Division and the Walsall Senior Cup.
