Whitney looks ahead to Doncaster

13 February 2018

Jon Whitney has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of tonight’s League One match with Doncaster.

The Saddlers have picked up four points from the last two games, having beaten MK Dons and drawn with Blackpool.

Rovers are one place above Walsall in the table but are winless in seven league games, six of which have been draws.

And Whitney is hoping the Saddlers can leapfrog Doncaster, and climb further up the division, with victory this evening.

He said: “We’ve got a few knocks but nothing too serious to keep them out. It’s a nice selection headache for me to have.

“We’ve taken four points from the last two games and we will be looking to give the fans something to shout about.

“We were disappointed with the late goal against Blackpool and maybe we could have managed the game better. But overall, with the efforts we cleared off the line, a point was a fair result.

“We take that now into Doncaster, who have got a slender lead on us in the league. It’s a chance for us to leapfrog them and that will be our main message to the lads.

“It’s an opportunity for us to push up towards mid-table with a really good performance.”
