Whitney: Build on MK win

9 February 2018

Jon Whitney is hoping his side can build on the 1-0 win over MK Dons when the Saddlers visit Blackpool tomorrow.

Stoke loanee Julien Ngoy scored the only goal just four minutes after coming on as a substitute to secure a vital victory over the Dons.

Whitney was pleased with the performance and is looking for a repeat against Gary Bowyer’s Seasiders, who sit just two points and two places below the Saddlers.

“February is a big month with a lot of games so it was important to get off to a good start with a win over MK Dons,” said the boss.

“I was really pleased for the players. After the defeats against Charlton and Blackburn, the MK Dons game was always a big one.

“And the performance has set us up nicely for Blackpool.

“We have enjoyed it and celebrated the win, but the important thing for us was to realise why we got the win.

“We pressed really well and I thought our discipline at the back was excellent. That’s what we need to continue.”
