Wilson joins the Saddlers on loan

3 August 2018

Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce the arrival of highly-rated right-back Kane Wilson on loan from West Brom until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old made his competitive debut for the Baggies at just 16 years of age and spent last season on loan at Exeter, helping them reach the League Two play-off final.

“Kane is someone who has a massive future ahead of him,” said Saddlers boss Dean Keates.

“He had a great loan spell at Exeter last season and this is the next part of his progression.

“He’s a powerful lad, a great athlete who will get up and down. He will add competition in the full-back slots as he can play right-back or left-back.

“He’s good going forward and another great acquisition for our squad.”

An England youth international, the talented defender joined West Brom at the age of seven and made his senior bow in an EFL Cup first-round tie at Northampton in August 2016.

He was loaned to Exeter last summer and had his St James’ Park stay extended in January, having impressed during the first half of the season.

Wilson made 22 appearances for the Grecians in total and won their Goal of the Month award for December.
