Ismail fit for Rochdale trip

24 August 2018

Winger Zeli Ismail will be available for selection when the Saddlers travel to Rochdale, boss Dean Keates has confirmed.

The 24-year-old started the season in a rich vein of form, scoring a penalty in the draw at Scunthorpe and a fine solo effort in the Carabao Cup win at Tranmere.

He missed the victories against Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon with a knock, but returned to training on Wednesday and is fit for tomorrow’s game.

The Saddlers will head to Spotland in good spirits, hoping to make it four consecutive wins in all competitions.

Conversely, Keith Hill’s Dale have shipped four goals in each of their two home games – and Keates says his side must be wary of a Dale backlash.

“They’ve been on the end of something the other night and it won’t have felt very nice for them,” he said.

“They’ll be looking for a reaction and it’ll be a difficult game for us.

“What happened the other night is gone and it’s a new game for them.

“We’re expecting a really tough game but we’ll get ourselves ready, go with a game plan and, all being well, we’ll leave at 5 o’clock and be happy.”
