COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: GIRLS' FOOTBALL

22 March 2017

Girls' football session from Thursday 30th March...

Walsall FC Community Programme will be running new girls’ football sessions from Thursday 30th March (6-7pm).

The University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus will host the weekly football for 5-11 year-old girls, costing just £2 per session.

The football will run on Thursdays (excluding 13th and 20th April) up until 20th July, and will be headed by the scheme’s Female Football Development Officer, Anna Wilcox.

Anna will be accompanied by WFCCP modern apprentice Ellesse Birkett during the sessions.

As well as activities at the university, the community scheme is also looking at running girls’ evening centres for 11-16 year-olds, provisionally starting in May.

Anna said: “It’s great that we can now offer these football sessions for 5-11 year-old girls as part of our ongoing commitment to girls’ football.

“Participation in women’s football has increased massively over the past decade or so, but there is still potential for it to grow even further.

“Hopefully these sessions are a huge success, and we can offer more opportunities to girls in the future.”

Places are limited, so to book your place on the girls’ football sessions please email anna.wilcox@walsallfc.co.uk now.
