Walsall Football Club are delighted to confirm Luke Leahy as our first summer signing ahead of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League One season.
The 24-year-old left-back joins the club following the expiration of his contract with Scottish First Division side Falkirk, for whom he scored 12 goals in 158 appearances over five years.
Leahy, who was born in Coventry and began his career with Rugby Town, has signed a two-year deal at the Banks’s Stadium.
“I’m delighted to sign and just having a look round the place, it’s brilliant and I can’t wait to get started.
“When I used to drive home from Scotland, I always used to see the Tile Choice Stand from the M6.
“I’m really impressed with the set-up and I can’t wait to get started.
Manager Jon Whitney is delighted to bring Leahy into the club.
“Luke is somebody I have been looking at for the last year,” said Whitney.
“I’ve kept tabs on him and seen a few of his games - we watched him at both of Falkirk’s play-off games in May.
“He made a great impression on me and he is someone with great potential.
“Luke used to play left-wing and he’s an attacking full-back.
“When we knew he was available we leapt at the chance to bring him in.
“He likes what we’re doing here, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Luke Leahy’s first interview as a Saddlers player will be available at www.saddlers.co.uk tomorrow to all iFollow subscribers.
