Saturday's match was considered a 'good win' by Walsall manager Jon Whitney, after their win against Bristol Rovers. Leading the match at 1-0 during halftime, Walsall managed to seal their 3-1 victory by the end of the game leaving all Saddlers fans ecstatic with the end result.Whitney praised the players and their performance, stating 'they were probably better than last week', entering the game with an increased level of energy. This match has definitely increased the level of enthusiasm between players and supporters, who have now seen 7 goals in the last two home games.
With a slow start to the first half, Walsall fans were delighted to see their first goal, scored by Eughan O'Connell. Goal keeper Neil Etheridge also made two outstanding saves during the first half, allowing Walsall to keep their position on top of the opposition. This kept spirits high as the first half of the match concluded, leaving Walsall 1-0 ahead at the break.
Two excellent goals followed in the second half of the match. Simeon Jackson scored in the 67th minute of the match, and this goal was soon followed by Joe Edwards at 73 minutes in. Bristol fans were given some glimmer of hope as they scored one goal minutes before the match ended, but this joy was short-lived as Walsall won the match.
